... of wire—it has very low resistance. If you try to connect it across a live circuit (like you would for voltage), you're basically shorting the power source, and that can result in Blown fuse in the meter (if you're lucky), Arcs or sparks. So, If you dont WAnt that Always power off the circuit before measuring current. Break the circuit and insert the meter in series, making sure the probes are in the correct ports—especially the high current port if you're measuring above ~200mA. Once everything's connected, power on the circuit, take your reading, and t ...

Raspberry Pi OS vs Ubuntu vs DietPi — Which one is better?
RPi Pico

I’m trying to decide between Raspberry Pi OS, Ubuntu, and DietPi for my Raspberry Pi, and I’d like to know which One is better overall or more suitable for different use cases. I’m mainly looking for: 1. Good performance (especially on lower-end models like Pi 3 or Zero) 2. Stability and long-term reliability 3. Ease of setup and use 4. Software compatibility and community support If you've tried more than One of these, which OS do you prefer and why? Are there specific situations where One clearly stands out over the others? Any insights or personal experiences would be really helpful.

Arduino is excellent for beginners, rapid prototyping, and educational purposes. Its simplicity, massive community support, and easy-to-use libraries make it ideal for getting started with embedded systems. You can quickly connect sensors, write basic logic, and see results — no steep learning curve involved. STM32, however, is a more powerful and professional-grade platform. It’s widely used in industrial, automotive, and consumer electronics (e.g., car ECUs, VR systems like Oculus, drones, and medical devices). By working with STM32, you gain exposure to ARM Cortex-M cores, which are the backbone of many real-world embedded applications.

RE: Pi Pico VS UNO: Which one is best for beginners?

@sophie Fair points! The Pico is definitely a solid option, especially if you’re into Python. That said, I still think the Arduino Uno is easier for total beginners, just because there’s WAy more support, tutorials, and libraries. If you ever get stuck, chances are someone’s already solved it. Plus, working with C/C++ on Arduino isn’t as scary as it sounds—tons of example codes make it pretty straightforward.

RE: Li-ion vs. Li-Po Batteries: Which One Should I Choose?

@ankunegi Thanks for the breakdown, That really clears up the main differences. I’m leaning toward Li-ion since my project doesn’t need super high discharge rates, and I’d rather have something more stable and long-lasting. That said, I am curious—have any of you used Li-Po in a general electronics project (not RC, drones, or high-power stuff)? Is it worth considering for something like a portable IoT device, or would Li-ion still be the better choice?

I think it really depends on the type of projects you're working on. If you're mainly doing simple LED displays, motor control, or basic IoT projects, Arduino boards are perfect. They’re simple and get the job done without much hassle. But if you WAnt to dive into audio processing, real-time data acquisition, or anything that requires heavy computation, STM32 is a beast. I switched over when I started working on a DIY oscilloscope project because I needed faster ADC and more memory.

I can share my personal favorite, which is Proteus. It’s great because it supports both analog and digital circuits and has built-in support for Arduino simulation. I’ve used it quite a bit for embedded system projects, and being able to upload real Arduino code (hex files or even source) and see how the microcontroller interacts with the rest of the circuit is incredibly helpful. The interface is fairly user-friendly once you get the hang of it, and the component library is extensive. What I also like is that it includes PCB layout capabilities, so you can go from simulation to PCB Design in the same environment. It’s a paid tool, but they offer student versions or lower-cost licenses that are perfect if you’re not working on commercial-scale projects. If you're looking for something free, Tinkercad Circuits is another solid option for beginners. It supports Arduino quite well and is completely browser-based, though it's not as advanced for analog simulation or PCB Design.

I’ve tested all three — Raspberry Pi OS, Ubuntu, and DietPi — and honestly, each One has its strengths depending on what you’re trying to do. If you're using a lower-end model like the Pi 3 or Zero, DietPi is a beast in terms of performance. It's super lightweight and boots fast, with very minimal background processes. Great for headless or server-style setups. Raspberry Pi OS is the most balanced in my opinion. It’s stable, well-supported, and has excellent compatibility with GPIO, camera modules, and most accessories. Plus, it’s officially maintained by the Pi Foundation, so updates and long-term support are pretty solid. Ubuntu (especially Server) is decent, but I’ve found it to be a bit heavier on Pi 3 and not ideal for Zero. It works better on Pi 4, and is nice if you're already used to Ubuntu on desktops or other servers. That said, sometimes peripherals or GPIO need extra tweaks to work smoothly. In terms of ease of use — Pi OS with Desktop is very beginner-friendly. DietPi is command-line based but has a great first-boot installer that lets you choose only what you need, so it’s pretty efficient. Ubuntu is more for those who are already comfortable with Linux. For community and support, Pi OS is the winner. Tons of tutorials, help forums, and guides tailored specifically to the Pi. DietPi and Ubuntu both have good communities too, but they’re a bit more general. My personal picks: For simple or GPIO-heavy projects → Raspberry Pi OS For lightweight, headless, or server projects → DietPi For more advanced server use on Pi 4 → Ubuntu Server Hope that helps — happy to share more if you’ve got a specific use case in mind!

Why should one buy original Arduino boards and not clones?

I’ve never fully understood why people insist on buying original Arduino boards when clones are so easily available at much lower prices. Is there any real issue someone might face if they opt for a clone instead of the original?

Hi all, I’ve been using Arduino for a while, but recently I heard that STM32 microcontrollers are more powerful than Arduino boards. Now I’m a bit confused about whether I should switch to STM32 or upgrade to other Arduino boards. Can anyone explain the key differences between them to help me choose the best option for my projects? thank you

I’ve seen a lot of circuits that emphasize proper grounding, and some people say it’s essential for safety and performance. But in low-voltage electronics, does it actually make a big difference, or is it just One of those good Design habits?
